Infant Massage Instruction
A massage therapist is there for families by appointment, but parents can massage their babies every day! These classes are designed to teach parents how to massage their infants. Since babies have their own likes and dislikes at an early age, this individualized approach teaches parents specific moves and holds that cater to the unique needs of their child. Infant Massage Instruction may be done as a private session or in a group setting at our office or in the comfort of your home.
What are the benefits?
Infant Massage provides many physiological and emotional benefits for the baby as well as for the parents. Setting aside time for daily massage with your infant has proven to enhance both bonding and attachment. It also develops parent-to-infant communication, helps regulate your child’s nervous system, and raises your child’s body awareness. Infant massage helps parents build confidence in their role as a parent and in their ability to relax their child. It’s also a great activity for working parents to do with their child as they re-establish a bond at the end of a day away. Developing these traits can be beneficial for a lifetime.
When to take a class?
Babies can receive massage from their very first day! The approach changes as your baby grows and develops. For that reason, it’s best to have pre-crawlers and the active crawlers in separate group classes.
What to expect?
The sessions last one hour, and it’s best if you book two appointments. During the first session you learn massage for your baby. At the second session, we correct and refine techniques, learn more massage, and answer questions. Get a group of friends together and have an Infant Massage Party!
