Birth Markings is a new film by Margaret Lazarus, who beautifully captures 12 women who share their intimate feelings about their bellies and body image since giving birth. I was in awe as I watched these women stand bearing the markings of birth; stretchmarks, scars, extra skin. This film shows mothers telling their story and embracing their beautiful tummy’s. These raw and honest confessions of how each of these women have come to celebrate their new body encourages us to look at what is beautiful. The human form is beautiful and the birth markings remind us of our story, not to be erased by the quick fix tummy tuck, but to be loved and honored. We encourage you to watch this short film and to rediscover your own markings of beauty.
